Behavioural Policy for the Jaat Community
Community equity and inclusive trade for all is our mission at Jaat.co.ke. We encourage our members to use community spaces to connect, share inspiration and knowledge, build teams, and grow their businesses across Kenya and beyond.
The Jaat Community includes future Forums and the in-platform Jaat Chat. This policy forms part of the Jaat House Rules. By using our community spaces, you agree to this policy and to the House Rules.
The Jaat Community
Community spaces on Jaat are public areas where buyers and sellers (18 years and older) interact. To keep these spaces safe and helpful, you agree to follow every guideline below:
Respect everyone’s privacy, including your own. Don’t share private or personal details publicly—transaction data, screenshots of private messages, addresses, bank info, etc.
Do not post internal conversations with Jaat representatives unless specifically asked to do so while resolving a dispute.
No fake IDs or documents may be used on Jaat by any buyer or seller.
Be courteous to all. If in doubt, give others the benefit of the doubt. Never use community spaces to shame, harass, or slander another member, listing, or Jaat staff.
Avoid creating turmoil; act with kindness at all times.
Don’t spam. Unsolicited links to your shop, duplicate posts, surveys, or other promotional content are not allowed.
One outreach we do encourage: when a shopper favourites your item, feel free to send a short, polite greeting such as, “Thanks for the love—let me know if you have any questions.” If they favourite several items, please don’t bombard the buyer with multiple identical messages.
Sellers must not use community spaces to coordinate pricing or discuss fee avoidance. Any content promoting hatred, racism, sexism, unethical behaviour, misinformation, or threats of violence is strictly forbidden.
Respect intellectual-property rights—don’t post or encourage the posting of counterfeit or copied work.
FORUMS
Forums are public knowledge-sharing hubs. Lead with empathy—tone is hard to read online. When unsure, pause before posting.
Respect differing opinions and only flag content that truly violates House Rules. Jaat reserves the right to remove any content or close discussions that disrupt the community.
DIRECT MESSAGES
Members should communicate via Jaat’s internal messaging system. Refrain from abusive, disrespectful, obscene, or vulgar language. DO NOT BE RACIST OR SEXIST.
No unsolicited advertising or promotions in DMs.
If you receive an inappropriate message, report it to Jaat via chat, email, or phone.
JAAT VIOLATION ACTION POLICY
If an item or communication appears to violate Jaat policies, report it. Jaat will review within 48-72 hours.
If compliant, no action is taken. If it violates policies, the owner has 48 hours to remedy or remove it. Failure to comply may lead to removal and/or account suspension.
Service-Level Response Times
In case of a platform outage or urgent assistance, Jaat or its payment processor will acknowledge the issue immediately and work toward resolution as fast as possible.
Behavioural Policy – Indemnity (General)
All parties agree to comply with the Laws of Kenya. Members shall defend, indemnify, and hold Jaat.co.ke harmless against claims arising from legal violations. Conversely, Jaat indemnifies members against claims caused solely by Jaat’s negligence.
General
Language
This Agreement and all notices are in English. Where translations exist, the English text prevails.
Disclaimers
Jaat may change advertising-programme terms at any time, including fees, reach, or termination. Participation does not obligate Jaat to display ads or guarantee clicks or sales. Advertising tools may evolve; Jaat reserves the right to modify or end campaigns with notice.
Ads must not infringe third-party rights. Sellers are responsible for following all applicable laws. Jaat may reject or remove any ad at its sole discretion.
Privacy Policy / Listing Fees / Payment-Processing Fees
Be aware of applicable charges when transferring funds from your Seller balance; fees depend on the payment method you choose (e.g., M-Pesa, card, bank transfer).
